Michelle Spring
After her early life and university education in Canada, Michelle Spring moved to England, where she held posts as Professor of Sociology at Anglia Ruskin University and as Royal Literary Fellow at both Newnham College and Magdalene College, University of Cambridge. She published scholarly books (on reproductive technologies, politics and education) under the name Michelle Stanworth.
Michelle and her family were threatened by a dangerous stalker in the 1990s.That experience triggered her interest in crime writing. Every Breath You Take, the novel that introduces PI Laura Principal, is the first in a series of five set in the historic university city of Cambridge. It dives feet-first into the subject of stalking, as does the later London-based standalone titled The Night Lawyer.
